Note: This Sunday I was at the 5 th Slow Up Emmental-Oberaargau with my girlfriend, it was great! BR 64 518 drives backwards in the station area in Huttwil to couple onto the wagons. The red thing behind the steam loco is RM De 4/4 257.

As Steam Trains, BR 64 518, Eb 3/5 Nr. 5810 "Habersack" and Ec 4/5 No. 11 ex SMB were working. They had 3 person waggons and two freight waggons for bikes.

The Slowup is a popular sports-event, which is conducted annually in various regions of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the Swiss-German border area. To this end, on a Sunday in a range 25-60 km, often a circular course, closed to motor vehicle traffic (no cars) and non-motorized individual transport (mainly reserved pedestrians, cyclists and inline skaters).

The first Slowup took place in 2000 in advance of the Expo 02 around Lake Murten. Since then, various Slowups were added, then in Geneva, around Lac de Joux, in the Rhone Valley, Valais, at the Lake of Gruyère, in the Jura (Delemont), in the Emmental, around the Lake Sempach, in Lake Valley, the triangle of Basel, the Rhine (Stein -Säckingen) to Schaffhausen (to sing), on Lake Constance (Romanshorn, Arbon, Amriswil) on the right bank of Lake Zurich, St. Gallen Rhine Valley / Liechtenstein and the Albula Pass.

A special role here of a Mountain Albula, as the route for the more than 2312 m high Albula pass leads. Feature of many Slowups is also the international character. As diverse Slowups through several states: The Liechtenstein Slowup by Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Schaffhausen and the Rhine each Slowup through Switzerland and Germany. The Basel-Slowup Dreiland even leads through Switzerland, Germany and France with a total of five (six from 2009) Border crossings. With 60 kilometers long (from 2009) he is also the longest Slowup.

Each Slowup takes place on another Sunday from April to September. Participation rates differ depending on the weather and especially Slowup between 10,000 and 50,000. In 2008 at the 14 Slowups participated total 405'000 people. The routes, often on scenic routes to water and are usually very flat. Driving both bike paths and roads as well as main roads, where this ratio diverges for each venue. Usually found in the local fairgrounds crossed all kinds, to provide what local clubs, and sponsors for the physical and mental well-being of participants. Participation is free, the lines can be free during the off-times (used without a mass o. Er.), But if necessary, under a certain direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) of non-motorized individual transport.
