Note: The Ee 922 is a new class of 21 electric shunting locomotives, ordered in 2007 by Swiss Federal Railways. Built by Stadler, in Winterthur, Switzerland, the first example was delivered in July 2009. For the remainder of 2009 it will undergo testing and evaluation, before the remainder of the order is delivered by late 2010. The new locomotives are intended for use shunting passenger stock at terminus stations across Switzerland.
Newest generation of electric shunting engines, they replace the very old E 3/3 series. The magazine “Hochparterre” features every year the prize "The Best" from buildings and objects in landscape, architecture and design. This year the SBB shunter "Ee 922" was awarded with the bronze rabbit for design. What convinced the jury, in addition to the formal design, was the combination of technology-driven development with a user-centric approach.
